Two of the system's planets, Daramm itself and Verasaryn, have flourishing and complex ecosystems; a third, Yasant, hosts primitive life in the form of protozoa.

System Data[edit]

Mrai and Aryn are Daramm's moons.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Daramm orbits Basijk three times every 566 standard days. This forms the largest base unit of the local calendar, the edt.

  • An edt is divided into three yaven (years) each of 188 days, plus two leap days known as Tyirpel tlil (fools' days). The yaven have names, the sequence being Iryn, Aira, and Shimmri.
  • Each year is further divided into four iar (months), each of 47 standard days. These months are named Bien, Ianyi, Asines, and Ane.

A small axial tilt (2°), minimal orbital eccentricity, and vast oceans acting as a heat sink combine to produce a pleasantly mild climate. There is little seasonal variation on Daramm.

Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]

Native Lifeforms[edit]

There is an extremely high level of heavier elements in Daramm's food chain, making it slightly toxic to most Humans. The Luriani are adapted to deal with this, but for the Solomani and Vilani minorities Daramm is one of the worlds where the Shugilii remain important.

Native Sophont (NIL): Luriani[edit]

A Human race adapted by the Ancients for an amphibious lifestyle.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Imperial High / Landed Nobility[edit]

Daramm, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of three members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.

World Starport[edit]

Daramm has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level[edit]

Daramm possesses a Technology Level of TL–14 or TL-E in Hexadecimal Notation.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early meson communicators.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, early collectors, and advanced fusion plants.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:

World Government[edit]

Daramm has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

World Law[edit]

There is normally at least one community verasrasti (constable) per 800 individuals. They are expected to be familiar with the people they police, and tend to stay on their beat for many years. Verasrasti provide a visible and approachable police presence. In addition, there are larger law enforcement stations to deal with more serious crimes and disorder.

World Demographics[edit]

50 billion Luriani.

A significant minority of the cultural Luriani population are biological Solomani or Vilani. The Solomani, known as Veresti Dtareen (Terran Defenders) descend from Terran soldiers and administrators of the Rule of Man stranded during the Long Night, while the Vilani are known as Mmarislusant (Victims of History), and descend from stranded Vilani colonists. Both groups have absorbed much of Luriani culture and are seen both by themselves and the natives as being genuine Luriani.

World Culture[edit]

The complex and seemingly all-pervasive nature of Luriani etiquette is one of the mechanisms they evolved to moderate their emotionally volatile natures. The Solomani and Vilani minority populations -- known as the Verasti Dtareen and Mmarislusant respectively -- adopted the same code of conduct.

Urbanization[edit]

Most of the population lives in vast arcologies anchored in the shallow seas surrounding the planet's island archipelagos.

Notable urban areas:

  • Antiavash arcology, located on an archipelago in the Jkemmla Yokwin, a shallow sea. Nearby is a small town called Askisfant, on one of the many islands.
  • Cisvus arcology, one of the larger on Daramm, home to about six million people.
  • Yarnar, a large group of islands near the northern pole. Home to nearly two billion people, noted for its conservative culture.
