The Spike Constellation is an astrographic feature primarily located in Gakghang Sector.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

This feature consists of four worlds in the spinward-coreward corner of Gakghang Sector, and some worlds coreward of Gakghang Sector (maps currently unavailable in this repository), in a single Jump-1 main, which collectively suggest a spike or sword pointed rimward. As of 1105 it holds all that remains of the Spike Society.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

This main was entirely occupied by the Spike Society prior to acquiring its current name during the Society's conversion to Anglic in 21-46. The individual worlds were renamed to match during this period.

Renaming the worlds was not universally popular, and even in 1105 some visitors view it as kitsch - a sign that the Society does not have its own "true" culture. Residents of the worlds have had a variety of responses over the years, many distilling down to knowing where they are in the universe. That said, when residents discuss the worlds of the constellation with each other, it is typical to leave off "Spike" - e.g., a merchant on Core might claim to be from Back and heading to Tip.

The Empress Wave was especially destructive to the Spike Society, smashing their entire polity down to just Back Spike, Core Spike, and Tip Spike. As of 1105 only these three worlds are inhabited, with the rest of the constellation under active interdiction.
