History & Background / Dossier

In the later part of the Long Night and the first century of the Third Imperium, Silverring (then named Guuurduu) was a local power, controlling the Autarchy of Guuurduu. Despite the fact that the mainworld is an asteroid belt, the system enjoyed the benefits of a pair of worlds capable of sustaining life. During the Long Night Guuurduu never lost the ability for in-system travel, and was able to ensure a supply of food, water, and oxygen, at a time when most system belts were rapidly depopulated. Nonetheless, Guuurduu lost the ability to build jump drives by -1600. Guuurduu might have remained this way until formally contacted by the Imperium, or another of the growing interstellar states, had it not been for a fortuitous discovery on one of the moons of the system's most distant planet. This discovery was a nearly intact ship from the late Rule of Man era.

The eventual nine-system Autarchy of Guuurduu retained its power through monopolising of technology and military force. In 72, however, the Third Imperium gifted jump technology to Olny, encouraging an independence movement that before long saw a full-scale uprising against Guuurduu.

Silverring, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdom of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.

Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
