Reuper is a non-agricultural, pre-industrial world with few economic prospects.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- It is a member of the Anubian Trade Coalition in the Anubis Subsector of Hinterworlds Sector.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
No information yet available.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Reuper has a pressure of less than 0.1 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Jump-2 traffic passing between the heart of the Anubian Trade Coalition and Reuper must pass through the neutral Borman system.
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Reuper has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- All traffic to and from the surface is by small craft and boats operated by regulated and controlled ATC operators. This has resulted in the A-class rating of the high port being somewhat misleading in practice. This is a deliberate move to prevent smuggling, particularly human smuggling as workers frequently try to escape from ATC-dominated worlds.
World Population (P)[edit]
Reuper has a population of 60,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
World Government (G)[edit]
Reuper is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
World Law (L)[edit]
Reuper has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Machine guns, other automatic weapons, portable energy weapons, and other military weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
- There are two court systems in use.
- The first is for business owners, free persons, and the rich and powerful. This system operates as a deliberative body and assesses penalties, mostly in the form of economic redress.
- The second is for the working class. This system is abrupt, arbitrary, and usually issues corporal or capital punishment as sentences. It was adopted in part from Ral Ranta justice systems.
- An alternative dispute settlement system for business owners and the rich exists in the practice of duelling adopted from the Ral Ranta. This is a legal option for persons in the upper classes of society. The working class cannot use it.
World Technology Level (TL)[edit]
Reuper possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-3.
Economy[edit]
The internal currency of the Anubian Trade Coalition is the Florin. It trades at about 5 to 1 with the Imperial credit.
Anubians and the ATC view corporations poorly. Their belief is that one takes a direct part in ownership of a company either as a proprietor or as a partner.
World Culture[edit]
Anubian society is heavily stratified and class oriented. Social mobility is limited. Most aspects of life in the Coalition are either an experience of privilege for the top classes of society, or heavy-handed repression and toil for the lower working classes.
