- The subsector is an average stellar density region.
- The brightest star is the red bright giant primary of the Ozsteiel system.
- Four stellar clusters are found within this subsector:

Ozsteiel Subsector lies beyond the spinward-coreward border of the Zhodani Consulate, in a broad area that has seen little attention from that polity despite its close proximity.

Major events that have affected this subsector and the wider region that it lies within:
- -5823: the Zhodani Consulate is established.
- -5415: the Zhodani discover jump drive technology.
- -4006 to present: the Zhodani undertake the Core Expeditions.
- The Year 0: far to trailing, the Third Imperium is founded.
- 300-420: the Imperial First Survey charts the region.
- 589-present: the Zhodani and the Imperium fight a sporadic series of Frontier Wars. Most of the action occurs in Tloql Sector, to trailing.
- 995-1065: the Imperial Second Survey charts the region.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
