The Neozinga of Corinna (Aldebaran 0209) were a Minor Non-Human Race with a Non-humanoid appearance.

  • They have been extinct for around a century.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

An extinct minor race believed to have originated in Aldebaran Sector. Neozinga is the Solomani term for this species, which have been classified as non-humanoid walkers.

More specifically, Neozinga were a winged insectoid / arthropodoid analog, massing between 25 and 50 kg, with a body length of approximately 1 meter, and while primarily adapted to walking were capable of short bursts of flight. Feeding was achieved by a long, sharp proboscis, much like that of a Terran mosquito. Venom could also be injected via separate fangs. There are some indications that there was a psionic element to feeding, but there is little solid evidence of this.

The nature of Neozinga psychology and culture is not well-understood, but appears to have been highly cooperative, yet within strongly competitive tribes.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Throughout their history the Neozinga were hostile towards Humans, and interacting with them always carried a degree of risk -- even the most placid Neozinga could turn in an instant, attacking any Humans nearby.

During the Rim War the Confederation attempted to "relocate" a number of non-Human races to other worlds, principally to fill gaps in the labor market caused by Humans serving in the military. The Neozinga were always unpredictable around Humans and actively resisted these relocation efforts. Following increasing numbers of violent episodes against Solomani citizens and communities, culminating in open attacks on Confederation interests and a planetary uprising that threatened to engulf other worlds in the region, the Neozinga civilization was obliterated by orbital bombardment.

There are numerous ruined indigenous cities on Corinna, their homeworld. The ruins are difficult for Humans to navigate, as both walking and flying are required to access various locations.

  • Rumors persist that isolated, hidden communities of Neozinga still survive in the deep wildernesses of their homeworld.
