Kassati is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Farin Subsector of Halcyon Sector.
- Kassati is a Voluntarily Regressive World
Astrography and Planetology[edit]

System Data[edit]
Volo-Kassati System[edit]
The primary is Volo, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.778 Sols, a mass of 0.96 Sols, and a diameter of 1.299 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum worldlet, and (II) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world. (III) Kassati orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) a dense atmosphere bigworld, (V) a sparse icy planetoid belt, (VI) a small gas giant, (VII) a ringed large gas giant, (VIII) a trace atmosphere iceworld, and (IX) a spectacularly ringed small ice giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(III) Kassati[edit]
(III) Kassati is designated the mainworld. It orbits Volo at a mean distance of 0.67 AU (100 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 204 days 11 hours and a rotation period of 26.5 hours. The axial tilt is 22 degrees. Kassati has a diameter 9,975 km, a density of 5.95 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.84 G. The world is geologically extremely active. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.58 bar and a composition of 77% nitrogen (N2), 21% oxygen (O2), 1% carbon dioxide (CO2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO2), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by gases of volcanic origin. Approximately 48% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.25m. Mean surface temperature: 14°C. The atmosphere is active and strong weather systems driven by the star and the seas sweep across the surface. The climate is seasonal.
Satellites[edit]
Kassati retains two natural satellites, a very thin atmosphere hospitable world named Seemo and an ice-capped vacuum worldlet named Movic:
- (IIIa) Seemo (UWP Y533000-0, orbiting at 25 Diameters/249,000 km)
- (IIIb) Movic (UWP Y311000-0, orbiting at 40 Diameters/399,000 km)
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
Total surface area: 312 million km², Land surface area: 162 million km², Water surface area: 150 million km².
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Kassati, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- Seemo, Kassati's hospitable outer moon, has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
The cold bigworld lying in orbital position (IV) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
- A former member of the Corolian Jurisdicture.
World starport[edit]
Kassati has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World technology level[edit]
Kassati possesses a Technology Level of TL–4.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone and telegraphs, widespread printing.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Trains and early automobiles.
- Water: Clippers and steam ships.
- Air: Dirigibles, balloons, very basic rockets.
World government[edit]
Kassati is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.
