  • This world is also known as Odye, the common Vargr name for the system long before contact with the natives.
  • It is the homeworld of the Drakaran, a sophont species and minor race.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

  • The mainworld.
    • Kas'Drak has one moon, Biranon.
  • A number of secondary rocky worlds. These include the third planet, N'Varr. Considered the secondary world within the system, N'Varr is forested and supports three billion Drakaran colonists.
  • x2 planetoid belts.
    • These support heavy industry and a population of 320,000,000. Many great clans from the belts own trading ships that operate throughout the Taakas Yh'Drak.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Kas'Drak has a single large moon, Biranon (the Hunter). It has been settled by the Drakarans.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Kas'Drak is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Kas'Drak has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Kas'Drak has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]

A single supercontinent is surrounded by island chains. The predominant terrain is prairie, steppe and desert, with sparse coastal forest regions. The equatorial region has been partially terraformed to make the climate more suited for herding, using extensive canal networks and weather control satellites.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Drakaran Riding Lizard (with mounted Drakaran soldier)

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

Most native lifeforms have a single large eye, Drakarans included.

The Drakaran Riding Lizard is among the more notable animals.

Visitors are also likely to notice scavenger reptilian creatures, analogous to squirrels or rats but often the size of dogs or cats. These scavengers eat garbage in Drakaran cities and provide prey for city dwellers during the primal hunting phase known as the Stalking.

Native Sophont (NIL): Drakaran[edit]

More correctly the Drak Ne'Vha, this race is known to most outsiders as Drakaran.

They are bipedal reptilians.

World Starport[edit]

Kas'Drak has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Kas'Drak has a population of 10,000,000,000 sophonts (tens of billions).

World Demographics[edit]

The population is 100% Drakaran.

World Languages[edit]

The common language is N'Toz.

Urbanization[edit]

Traditional family dwellings consist of several rooms spaced around a large open courtyard containing a garden.

  • Cities tend to be large and sprawling. The Drakaran dislike underground buildings, and except for storage areas few exist.
  • Cities are laid out in geometric patterns, a function of the race's obsession with order and harmony.
  • Large ranching regions are always nearby, to provide food animals -- particularly during The Stalking, a Drakaran predatory phase.
  • A majority of families (even poor ones) own personal transport. Public transit is rare, but most vehicles have highly efficient reactors, so pollution is kept to a minimum.

World Technology Level[edit]

Kas'Drak possesses a Technology Level of TL–16 or TL-G in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government[edit]

Kas'Drak has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

The various clans police their own territory.
