The Ichachi of Vilian are a Minor Non-Human Race native to Astron Sector.
- Their homeworld is located within Vilian Subsector.
- Their technological competency is rated as primitive.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Ichachi are a "Centauroid" species: in the most general terms they have a body shape reminiscent of centaurs of Terran mythology.
- Ichachi are physically powerful, and are skilled and capable warriors.
They are naturally adapted to far colder conditions than Humans find comfortable.
They are descended from scavengers that ate anything they could acquire, catch, or capture. They have a general preference for meat, and use their size and aggression to scare away predators or opponents.
Ichachi are not the apex species on their world; there are many large carnivores that predate them.
General Physiology[edit]
Body structure: Bilateral HBS-T-AN-LL-N
- Bony skeletal structure
- Scum internal fluids
- Dense furry pelt
A thick neck supporting a broad triangular-shaped head holds the brain and mounts the primary sensory organs, along with the mouth. There are two sets of eyes -- side-mounted "watching eyes" that give a 360 degree field of view, and front-mounted "hunting eyes" providing excellent precision; hunting eyes are normally kept closed. The head is located at the top of an upright torso containing breathing organs, which sits at the front of a "thorax" containing the circulatory and digestive organs. Paired arms ending in four-fingered hands emerge from the torso. Four long, relatively thick legs project from the corners of the thorax, terminating in broad flat feet with gripping claws. The Ichachi are covered in dense layers of insulating fur that maintain them at a constant temperature. "Gills" located along the neck can be opened to expose uninsulated skin, allowing them to rapidly lose excess body heat.
A typical Ichachi is around 2 meters long, stands about 1.8 meters tall, and weighs around 150 kg. Their dense furry hide makes them seem bulkier. If they raise themselves up onto their rearmost legs, they can stand as high as 2.5 meters: while impressive, this is not a natural posture for an Ichachi, typically being used to try and scare away foes.
They are oxygen breathers.
Ichachi are naturally sensitive to the EM noise produced by the systems two stars.
- It is perceived as background sounds and is a normal everyday thing, like the noise of the wind.
- When the stars go through periods of increased stellar activity, the noise becomes louder.
- Some individuals claim to be able to hear words among the noise. They believe the stars -- their deities -- are talking directly to them.
General Psychology[edit]
Native Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: A (discordant - competing religious views)
- Acceptance: 6 (aloof)
- Strangeness: 4 (distinct)
- Symbols: 1 (extremely concrete)
Ichachi have mercurial tempers and are quick to anger. They bicker and squabble endlessly among themselves.
- Disputes will frequently end in conflict.
- Fights rarely result in death, though injuries are common.
A complex system of submissions exists, which allow one or both antagonists to back out of a situation without losing face.
- Deference is paramount.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Jaibok raiders, elements of the Imperial Korsumug Navy, have occasionally descended upon the Ichachi homeworld and taken captives.
- Capturing an Ichachi is a badge of honor among Jaibok.
- The fate of those who are captured remains uncertain. It probably isn't good.
Demographics[edit]
The total known population equals 300 million individuals.
Urbanization[edit]
Multiple large temple-cities are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.
- Large regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.
Some Ichachi live a nomadic life.
Astrography[edit]
This race is primarily located in the following areas:
Charted Space:
Homeworld[edit]
The homeworld of this race is:
- Vilian, a relatively cold world with a thin, tainted atmosphere.
- Vilian orbits close binary stars.
Local Technology[edit]
Vilian possesses a Technology Level of TL–1.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Runners or beast relay and long distance signaling such as the heliograph and semaphore.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Muscle power and water wheels.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Riding animals, rickshaws, carts or other creature-drawn wheeled vehicles.
- Water: Rowed galleys and early sailing vessels.
- Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability or ride-able flying beasts available.
Local Government[edit]
Vilian is governed by a Religious Dictatorship. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy). There is a powerful independent organization, the state religion, which has influence or direct control of the government. Like the bureaucratic governments this may simply be a strong influence with a secular government, be direct influence by virtue of controlling who may be in the leadership, or be a direct theocracy where the church leadership and bureaucracy is the government.
- The Church is centered around worship of the two stars and the world's two moons.
- Sun worship and moon worship are the major factions within the faith.
World Military[edit]
Approximately a million professional warriors.
- All military forces are under the direct control of the Church.
- Huge citizen armies can be raised on demand.
Local Law[edit]
Vilian has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked. There is no legal concept of privacy (save for those who can claim necessity for official government business). The police are free to inspect anyone and anything at any time.
- It involves a complex deference system allowing delicate situations to be defused without parties losing face.
- Breaking the complex rules of etiquette can have fatal consequences.

- The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
- Other sources may contain contradictory or incorrect information.
Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, is likely to be out of date.
- Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
- Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
