Vilian is a pre-agricultural, pre-Industrial, moderate population world with over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size.

  • It requires significant imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
  • Its economy and population are growing and living conditions are expected to slowly improve barring outside forces.
  • It is an unclaimed Non-Aligned world located in the Vilian Subsector of Astron Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Vilian is a binary star system.

  • Both are red main sequence stars.
  • They are close companions, separated by a tiny fraction of an AU.
  • They are both egg-shaped, bulging towards one another as they orbit their barycenter.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been remotely surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The mainworld orbits within the two star's combined Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zones colder outer H- region.
  • It receives lower levels of stellar energy.

Chart H- Region Mw.png

  • The world orbits inside the two stars combined Jump Shadow.

The world has a very slow rotation period.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Vilian is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

  • Many regions of the world are seismically and geologically active.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Vilian has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

  • The atmosphere contains relatively high concentrations of gases of volcanic origin such as sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen sulfide.
  • To humans, the whole atmosphere stinks of rotten eggs.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Vilian has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

  • The world experiences low temperatures.
  • Much of the surface is covered in glaciers, snow, frost, and ice.

Cold World 04.jpg

Satellites:[edit]

Vilian retains two small vacuum moons.

  • The worlds orbit once every few days.
  • They have elongated elliptical orbits, swinging out towards the stars and then back towards the mainworld.

  • Far more detailed maps may be available locally.
  • Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
  • Detailed survey data commands premium prices.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant, diverse native life filling every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Ichachi Sophont Species Astron.jpg

Vilian is the homeworld of the Ichachi.

  • They are pale-furred, technologically primitive, angry, six-limbed scavengers with extreme religious views.
  • Their religion centers around their systems close binary stars and their worlds two moons.
  • First contact occurred millennia ago.

Jaibok raiders, elements of the Imperial Korsumug Navy, occasionally set upon the world and take captives.

  • Ichachi are physically powerful and are skilled and capable warriors.
  • Capturing an Ichachi is a badge of honor among Jaibok.
  • The fate of those who are captured remains uncertain. It probably isn't good.

Jaibok slavers are fought by the heroic forces of the Astron Frontier Patrol.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Vilian does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Vilian possesses a Technology Level of TL–1.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Runners or beast relay and long distance signaling such as the heliograph and semaphore.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Muscle power and water wheels.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:

World Government (G)[edit]

Vilian is governed by a Religious Dictatorship. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy). There is a powerful independent organization, the state religion, which has influence or direct control of the government. Like the bureaucratic governments this may simply be a strong influence with a secular government, have direct influence by controlling who may be in the leadership, or be a direct theocracy where the church leadership and bureaucracy is the government.

  • The Church is centered around worship of the two stars and the worlds two moons.
  • Sun worship and moon worship are the major factions within the faith.

World Military[edit]

Approximately a million professional warriors.

  • All military forces are under the direct control of the Church.
  • Huge citizen armies can be raised on demand.

World Law (L)[edit]

Vilian has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked. There is no legal concept of privacy (save for those who can claim necessity for official government business). The police are free to inspect anyone and anything at any time.

  • It involves a complex deference system allowing delicate situations to be defused without parties losing face.
  • Breaking the complex rules of etiquette can have fatal consequences.

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 6 (few)
  • Labor: 7 (tens of millions)
  • Infrastructure: 9 (extensive)
  • Efficiency: +1 (average)

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -2 (very unimportant)

World Demographics (P)[edit]

Vilian has a population of 300,000,000 Ichachi.

Urbanization[edit]

Multiple large temple-cities are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.

  • Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.
  • Large regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.

Some Ichachi live a nomadic life.

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: A (discordant - competing religious views)
  • Acceptance: 6 (aloof)
  • Strangeness: 4 (distinct)
  • Symbols: 1 (extremely concrete)
