It is a member of Third Imperium in the Old Suns Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Lancian Cultural Region and the Domain of Vland. Gvadh, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdoms of a baron and a minor duke. All three are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. 60% of the world's population is the Major Race Vargr.   During the Long Night this world was named Laap.

History and Background[edit]

Gvadh was originally colonized in -1650 by Gvegh-Aek and Urzaeng Vargr fleeing the Sack of Gashikan. The Vargr remained undiscovered until -344 when they were found by a S'mrii research ship. Shortly afterward a peaceful joint colony was established. Unfortunately, after the planet's discovery by the Imperium the Vargr were shamelessly exploited for several centuries and it is only in the last 300 years that they have been able, with help from the S'mrii colony, to cast off their servitude.

Gvadh is a unique example of interspecies co-operation in that the society here has retained strong cultural ties with both its parent races while creating a subculture uniquely its own. Gvadh has been classified as 9 (Harmonious Integration) on the Tetusu-Dene scale as regards the S'mrii and other non-Human sophonts, though Human visitors should be warned that most Gvadh Vargr, especially the larger Urzaeng, will generally be extremely hostile and xenophobic towards them.

Most people outside of Old Suns Subsector know of Gvadh primarily because of the Dhueng-an-Thuk house of fashion, extremely popular across the Imperial core for its unique style and vibrant colours.

World Starport[edit]

Gvadh has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Gvadh has a population of 10,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

World Demographics[edit]

Linguistic Topography: 1105[edit]

The following languages are among the most commonly heard here:

  • Anglic: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium.
  • Ghaehoun: A trade language created by the Vargr communities of Dagudashaag.
  • Gvegh: A common Vargr language family.
  • Sfuizia (translated as "InterLanguage" but often referred to as S'mrii): The primary language of the S'mrii, used throughout the S'mrii ConSentiency.
  • Vilani: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium.
    • Note that this language is in official use (as it is throughout the Imperium) but in practice is disfavoured by most residents.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Gvadh possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Gvadh is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions in the government. These positions are inherited by member of the group or their family members. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.

  • Among the most powerful political blocs is Phylum Hnneshant, controlled by Urzaeng Vargr.

World Law (L)[edit]

Gvadh has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
