Gaxfield is a low-population world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in size.
- This world has yet to take off economically or otherwise and the population remains low for reasons largely unknown.
- It is a member of the Kingdom of Peladon in the Evalren Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.
- It is a chilly tundra world, with a climate of low temperatures.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Gaxfield has a solitary primary star.
- It is an enormous red bright giant named Chi Borealis.
- It can be seen from across Charted Space.

It produces high levels of EM noise.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x5 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belt.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's colder outer H- region.
- It receives relatively low levels of stellar energy.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Gaxfield is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Gaxfield has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences low temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Gaxfield has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few large continents and extensive islands. Wilderness refueling is possible.
- The world's oceans are littered with icebergs and pack ice.
Satellites:[edit]
Gaxfield retains two small vacuum moons.
- They orbit once every few weeks.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Primitive aquatic native life. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Gaxfield is a backwater outpost with almost no development or economy.
The system's huge primary star causes interference, strange tones and noises, and heavy static on commo and sensors.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Gaxfield has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
The starport is the private property of the Kingdom of Peladon. It is operated and run by the Kingdom.
World Population (P)[edit]
Gaxfield has population of 400 sophonts (hundreds).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
Urbanization[edit]
Isolated compounds and ancillary structures, each built close to an exposed source of minerals.
- Communities are very widely separated.
- Almost all of the surface of the world is wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Gaxfield possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Gaxfield has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
World Military[edit]
Privately retained security personnel.
World Law (L)[edit]
Gaxfield has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -2 (very unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 4 (scarce)
- Labor: 1 (tens)
- Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
- Efficiency: -1 (average)
Within the Kingdom of Peladon, royal charters are granted to trade consortiums run by various noble houses -- transport corporations that gain this status become part of the Peladon Royal Merchant Marine, which grants certain rights and privileges while operating within the Kingdom. Competition to win and retain royal charters is fierce.
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 3 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 1 (extremely xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 6 (very distinct)
- Symbols: 8 (somewhat abstract)
World Timeline[edit]
- 300-420: the First Survey charts the system.
- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
