- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.

History & Background[edit]
Domino Empires and the Rise of the New Imperium (Capital, 101-0386)[edit]
Known as "Ankii An" during the First Survey and much of the later Long Night, Garmagan has a turbulent history of immigration, emigration, devastating wars, empire building, and loss. Due to at least one period of vindictive propaganda and records destruction during the Long Night, the specific reasons and dates for name changes are muddied at best, but it is believed that the world acquired the name Ankii An during an empire building era early in the Long Night.
When the nascent Third Imperium made contact, Ankii An was at the head of a flailing and fading empire spread across the subsector. Despite initial resistance, absorption was quick, and immediately followed by a new colonial effort supposedly under the radar of the new Imperium's expansion efforts. Existing colonies were brought back under a firm Ankiian boot, and population was conscripted and deported to every colony whether or not capacity was available there. Eventually the scheme collapsed along with the Ankiian regime, and an ugly war of succession followed. Those who had been forcibly emigrated were suddenly the fortunate ones, as an Imperial Edict was placed on the world after a nuclear conflagration wiped out 75% of the populace in a week. While cleanup was rapid thanks to the nature of the warheads used, the old regime was hunted down, root and branch, and a new government installed. A plebiscite determined that changing the name of the world was desired, and the name of the last pre-Ankiian dynasty was selected. The world was re-christened Garmagan in 0371. Many of the colony worlds followed suit.

Imperial High & Landed Nobility[edit]
Garmagan, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdoms of three members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.

- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial viscount.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial subsector duke, who also conducts affairs regarding the entire subsector at the Interstellar and Imperial level.
World Starport[edit]
Garmagan has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Technology Level[edit]
Garmagan possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government[edit]
Garmagan is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.
