The Farsight class Sensor Launch is a civilian smallcraft.

Description[edit]

The Farsight class Sensor Launch is an optionally-crewed vessel that has been described as "a set of very good sensors with a fast m-drive strapped to the back". This vessel is popular with scouts, researchers, and scientists. Its sensors are more capable than those installed on a Lavalier class Laboratory Ship for biological surveys, and it can more swiftly and safely traverse a world while cataloguing its flora and fauna. It can act as a large and very speedy probe drone, and unlike normal probe drones, return on its own power even after landing on a world (assuming it survived the landing). It can also launch smaller probe drones - or missiles, to add a self-defense capability to scientific expeditions, which makes this smallcraft a popular upgrade for unarmed science vessels.
