Dakar is a rich, pre-agricultural world with a moderate population over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in size.

  • The world's agricultural industry is growing and some economists forecast an explosion in this world's agribusiness in the near future as new agro-technology and a more capable labor force are imported.
  • This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
  • This world has high-grade living conditions with a good climate and a non-harmful environment. As such, this world is much sought after with large queues for immigration here.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Shillish Subsector of Ilelish Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
  • This world has a colony at Aoea.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Dakar is a binary star system.

  • The primary is a white main sequence.
  • The secondary is a red main sequence.
  • This world is part of the Dakar Cluster.

Dakar is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Miitan Subsector of Ilelish Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
  • This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or over technology standards for Charted Space.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Dakar is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Dakar has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Dakar has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few large continents and extensive islands. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Dakar was originally populated by Vilani colonists, which after the fall of the First Imperium were joined by many Terran ethnic groups. This later led to a societal rift and the discontented set out to populate a new world which became known as New Dakar, in Old Expanses Sector. Despite the initial discontent, the two worlds later reconciled and have formed a warm relationship, enjoying cultural exchanges, expanded profitable trade, and other mutually beneficial exchanges, to the point that only historians still remember the original sources of their differences. [2]

World Starport (St)[edit]

Dakar has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Dakar has a population of 300,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

  • Humans make up more than 95% of the population.
  • Other sophonts make up a little less than 5% of the population.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Dakar possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Dakar is governed by a Non-charismatic Dictatorship. A continuation of the charismatic dictatorship, where the original leadership has died or retired and replaced by allies or protégés. The reasons for the change in government remain as well as the assertion of rights to rule.

World Law (L)[edit]

Dakar has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked, and destinations must often be declared when traveling substantial distances across the world.

Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]

Dakar, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of four members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: 3 (ordinary)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: E (extremely abundant)
  • Labor: 7 (tens of millions)
  • Infrastructure: C (very extensive)
  • Efficiency: +5 (very advanced)

World Culture[edit]

  • Heterogenity: A (discordant)
  • Acceptance: B (extremely friendly)
  • Strangeness: 7 (confusing)
  • Symbols: C (very abstract)
