The Column mainworld was first settled around -1750 by Rule of Man refugees. According to legend, these first settlers included three deserting naval squadrons from the Diaspora Sector fleet. Column quickly developed an industrial base.
The Solomani Confederation's Nebula Federalist faction, which seeks to lower military spending to reduce Confederation taxes and favours greater emphasis on local Home Guard forces, is highly influential here.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Column has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
