Chesapeake is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.

- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Splendour Subsector of Neworld Sector.
- About 60% of the population is composed of Dolphins.
- Less than 10% of the population is composed of baseline Solomani.

60% of the population are Dolphin; most of the remaining 40% are Solomani.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
- Delphinic Trinary, the principal language of Dolphins.
- This language, also known as Delphinese, involves various clicks, rasps, chirps, creaks, hoots and whistles. Due to the spread of Dolphins across Charted Space, it has evolved into a multitude of dialects. It can take a Dolphin some time to learn a new dialect; errors are often seen by both parties as humorous.
- For communication with humans and other races, most Dolphins speak ordinary, if flowery, Anglic.

- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
