Aedhar is a preindustrial, moderate population desert hellworld with a population of over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts.

  • The inhabitants of this world struggle to survive in the life-threatening environment of a desert hellworld.
  • This world has no free-standing water.
  • The world is a preindustrial one, which cannot produce adequate materials to maintain a modern, star-faring society. These items must be imported at considerable cost.
  • This world has few prospects for significant economic development.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by Vargr sophonts located in the Ruhk Odzuetarug Subsector of Gvurrdon Sector.
  • This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.

System Data[edit]

System:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Aedhar is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away. .

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Aedhar has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Aedhar has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere..

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Aedhar has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

  • Vargr starports reflect the variety of Vargr architecture, with many disparate styles of building, each having their own unique ornamentation and gaudy colour scheme, and all competing for the attention of the onlooker. Emblems for the major shipping lines and port facilities abound.

World Population (P)[edit]

Aedhar has a population of 400,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

  • The population is 95% Vargr.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most widely spoken language is a dialect of Gvegh. Many other Vargr languages are in use.

Urbanization[edit]

Vargr cities are lively and chaotic, full of garish colours and loud noises. Streets are packed and buildings press together. Vehicle traffic is fast and chaotic; the accident rate is low only because of superior Vargr reflexes. Zoning codes are rare, and districts jumble together.

World Government (G)[edit]

Aedhar is governed by a Charismatic Oligarchy, like a charismatic dictatorship in that a larger group has asserted their right to rule. The group will likely have better rules of succession than a single dictator and may last longer, or may transition to a non-charismatic dictatorship.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

Aedhar has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).

World Technology Level (TL)[edit]

Aedhar possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
