Zukchurukh has a short-sleeve breathable atmosphere. The system has a population between 100 million and a billion sophonts. The governance of this world is from Mimu (Dagudashaag 0208). This planet is tidally-locked to its primary star with a hot region facing the the primary, a cold region on the other side, and a habitable area in the twilight zone between. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Mimu Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Lancian Cultural Region and the Domain of Vland. Zukchurukh, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the fiefdoms of a baron and a viscount. All three are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world.   During the Long Night this world was named Nipa.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

Zukchurukh is a tidally-locked world, and a S'mrii Prime world.

Zukchurukh is located on the Vilani Main.

History & Background / Dossier[edit]

Zukchurukh has a majority S'mrii population, first settled around -11300 with sublight Ramships. The name is S'mrii for 'navigational error' as the initial scoutship believed initially that they had in some way come full circle and arrived back at Mimu, so alike did Zukchurukh initially appear to the homeworld. The illusion was shattered when it was realised that Zukchurukh was a tidally-locked world. It was still a prime S'mrii site. The Twilight band is much cooler at 185° Kelvin and the S'mrii have to live more towards the centre of the brightside.

The main world derives its wealth from production and research into medicine, genetics and cybertech, particularly in regard to climatic adaptation. There are drugs to overcome low oxygen atmospheres (aka altitude sickness), gene therapy for modifying sweat glands to become more effective (in high temperature environments) and cybertech implants/ hardening of body parts.

A thriving community of belters mines the system's belts.

World Starport[edit]

Zukchurukh has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Technology Level[edit]

Zukchurukh possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government[edit]

Zukchurukh has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. A colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

This system is governed from Mimu.

Population[edit]

700,000,000.

World Demographics[edit]

Most of the inhabitants (80%) are S'mrii. There are also human settlements in the system, mainly in the mining bases of the Ckur-ka belt and the Khu Trade Centre in orbit round the Vivka gas giant. Half the human population and nearly a third of the S'mrii are followers of the Lancian culture.

World Culture[edit]

S'mrii society is highly stratified and formed from large socioeconomic groups known as phyla. Each phylum has an overall rank in S'mrii society, which is widely described as pyramidal. Phyla vary widely in size, having anywhere between 6,000 and 15 million members.

  • The basic social unit within a phylum is the Ka'usui (or "family") consisting of a pair of S'mrii, their children, and attendant Kiakh'iee. Three or four ka'usui make up an Sk*khua ("circle") which is often equated to the Human extended family.
  • Loyalty to the phylum governing council is heavily emphasized as part of a S'mrii education.

Zukchurukh is strongly influenced by the Lancian culture.
