Gorgythion is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
- A Prison World, exile camp, or prison camp for criminals or other exiles is located upon this world in addition to other points of interest.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Quesada Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
Description / Astrography & Planetology

System Data
Gorgythion is an older system, estimated at 8 Gyr given measurements from its K9 primary. The solitary star (K9) is capable of sporadic solar storm activity, sometimes quite strong.
Mainworld Data
Gorgythion is a standard sized world with a thin atmosphere. It lies on the warmer side of the system habitable zone.
Mainworld Geography & Topography
Gorgythion itself has a rotating molten core which provides a stronger than average magnetosphere, allowing it to retain its thin atmosphere. This feature is unusual in a twilight-zone world.
There are several low mountain ranges around the world. In the twilight zone between the hot- and cold-poles, there is a series of (60km) wide world seas usually linked by small waterways or canals. These seas are inevitably bracketed by low mountain ranges to the hot and cold directions.

Native Lifeforms
Local biologists have identified several ancient and unique single- and multi-celled organisms that appear to have evolved here. They are interesting primarily due to their hardiness and their 4-strand quasi-DNA genomic structure.
History & Background / Dossier
In ancient Terran Greek mythology, Gorgythion was one of the sons of King Priam of Troy at the time of the Trojan War and appears as a minor character in Homer's Iliad. (Source available on most Solstate worldnets.)
World Starport
Gorgythion has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
The starport is located on the trailing point of the twilight zone. The local populations seem to have agreed on the name "Careful".
World Technology Level
Gorgythion possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government
Gorgythion has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
Gorgythion has a set of independent states, mostly centered around its own twilight sea. The state closest to the starport is called "Troy", and effectively serves as its startown. Basic surveying actions have discovered the state-names of additional states: Athena, Londonus, Paris, and Moskva. Additional work and an expanded budget will be necessary to complete this world survey.
World Law Level
Gorgythion has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Military
Each state seems to maintain a military or militia. Armament seems to be limited to small arms and melee weapons. Ammunition seems to be a limiting factor in recent engagements.
World Economy
This world is a non-industrial economy, focused on agriculture and aquaculture. There is some mining activities in each state. Each state seems to be trying to acquire or produce its own stores of fertilizers.
Trade Data
No information yet available.
World Demographics
Solomani humans, 100%.
World Culture
Gorgythion is a prison world of the Grand United States of Queseda, that evolved into an exile colony. That colony was then later abandoned to its own destiny, and its inhabitants defrocked of their Quesedan citizenship. Each sea-state is generally inhabited by people originally from a particular world in GUSoQ, or is of parentage descended from such. As such, each state retains the echos of its originating culture, and the remnants of its dialects. Specifics of each will require a follow-up survey.
World Language/s
Quesadan Spanish, Rim Anglic, and local patois.
Urbanization
Small cities with some advanced structures (TechA). Power systems consist of advanced fission reactors in most states, but the starport and Troy both run on fusion plants (TechC). Basic roadways exist locally in and around the seas. Ships and boats ply the seas and waterways for travel and trade. Each state also maintains its own airport for specialized craft, typically very large dirigibles and multi-wing powered aircraft.
