Yasah is a low population, fluidic hellworld of less than 10,000 sophonts struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.

  • A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Demon's Eye Subsector of Far Home Sector.

Astrography and Planetology

This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.

  • The supergiant primary of the Demon's Eye system and the huge Demon's Eye Nebula that surrounds it, lying a few parsecs to trailing, are clearly visible in the sky.
Yasah has a solitary primary star.

System Data

Mannah-Yassah System

The primary is Mannah, an ordinary red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.0268 Sols, a mass of 0.4258 Sols, and a diameter of 658,000 km. (I-I) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (I-II) a vacuum worldlet have a shared orbit within the habitable zone. (II-I) Yasah, designated the mainworld, (II-II) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (III) a ringed large gas giant, (IV) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (V-I) a trace atmosphere iceworld, (V-II) a sparse stony planetoid belt, and (VI) a vacuum iceworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data

(II-I) Yasah is designated the mainworld. It orbits Mannah at a mean distance of 0.35 AU (52.4 million km), within the H– region of the outer system. It has an orbital period of 115 days 22 hours and a rotation period of 73 hours. The axial tilt is 9 degrees. Yasah has a diameter of 8,655 km, a density of 4.97 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.61 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Mannah cause occasional geological activity. Its atmosphere is rated as Exotic, with a mean surface pressure of 4.45 bar and a composition of 95% nitrogen (N2), 3% methane (CH4), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), abiotic oxygen (O2), water vapor (H2O), azane (NH3), hydrogen (H2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 16% of the surface is covered in sheets of water ice and lakes of ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) kept liquid by geothermal heat generated by radioactives present in the lithosphere. Mean surface temperature: -65°C. The climate is rated as Very Cold and is static, with no seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is dynamic and strong weather systems driven by the star and the seas sweep across the globe.

Satellite

Yasah retains a single natural satellite, a tiny vacuum worldlet named Iono:

(II-Ia) Iono (UWP YS00000-0, orbiting at 6 Diameters/52,000 km)

Mainworld Geography and Topography

Total surface area: 235 million km², Land surface area: 197 million km², Water surface area: 38 million km².

Native Lifeforms

Mannah-Yasah System

No world in the system is known to have native life.

History & Background (Dossier)

No information yet available.

World starport

Yasah has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World technology level

Yasah possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World government

Yasah has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.

Historical data

Sometime after 3500 AD, colonizing vessels vectored to this planet suffered a series of epic disasters during the voyage, within the system and during planetfall. Encounters with unknown alien vessels were blamed, but evidence is lacking. The radiation and accidents crippled much of the gene stock targeted for bio-culture and nutrient development. The surviving Hoppers did what they could to salvage the mission and ensure the survival of their embryonic charges. The damaged Artificial Gestation Units were barely working and very difficult to repair in time. Within a few generations of isolation it became apparent that the colony was going to fail if drastic measures were not taken. The early human decants decided to override the genetic restrictions and started mass producing clone strains. Clone numbers eventually spiked. Competition for already limited resources sparked violent patricidal conflicts lost to the annals of dark years scarcely recorded in any history files. Toward the end the hoppers were sacrificing themselves to ease competition with their own creche born charges. A stock of androids was manufactured with the less viable organic castoffs to provide a docile workforce to increase efficiency. They were stronger and needed less food and life support. Ideal, at first. Eventually the lack of competent hopper supervision, combined with the extensive damage to genomic screening equipment resulted in some "faulty" android batches. The pockets of survivors hid, and hunkered down in fortified bunkers with hoarded supply caches. The final conflict wasn't really a war. It was a slow, brutal extermination. About two hundred years ago the last vestiges of warrior android tribes were apparently hunted down and killed. All clone batches have been supposedly destroyed. The tiny hand full of shell shocked survivors insist the danger is in the past and everything is safe now. They all insist they are real people and can prove it. All the hoppers have been sacrificed and/or cannibalized, so there is no one trustworthy to ask. It just seems the rest of the subsector isn't listening nor paying attention to these grim details from history. The blinking neon at the starport reads open and welcome in several local languages...Anglish, Padori and Meranto. Fifty years ago a group of curious Temelik scientists and xeno-anthropologists charted a vessel to allow them to explore what this isolated world had to offer. Verge Promethus is thought to have provided the transport, insurance underwriting and sponsorship due to some interested Quemm technical advisors and venture capitalists. The expedition disappeared without a trace. The case is still under "investigation" by a concerned Rimward Federation foreign affairs attaché.
