The Xing!kir class Light Cruiser is a warship.
- It is a military ship and a Light Cruiser.
Description (Specifications)
The Xing!kir class Light Cruiser is "light" only by K'Kree standards. It is commonly encountered within the Two Thousand Worlds and beyond its borders. It is considered to be well appointed and relatively comfortable and is frequently used to transport important individuals and their entourages.
Basic Ship Characteristics
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]
| No. | Category | Remarks |
|---|---|---|
| 1. | Tonnage | The Xing!kir class is constructed using a 50,000 Ton hull built in a Flattened Sphere configuration. The hull is fully streamlined, giving a good atmospheric performance assisted by its onboard gravitic systems.
|
| 2. | Crew | 440 personnel. XX command, XX engineering, XX gunnery, XX service, XX medical, and XX stewards. There are 72 Marines, 50 security personnel and XX flight crew.
Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems.
|
| 3. | Performance | The vessel mounts a Jump-2 drive, a Maneuver-2 drive, and a Power Plant-6, giving performance of Jump-2 and 2-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 1 and an emergency agility of 2. There is fuel tankage of 13,000 Tons, sufficient for two consecutive Jump-2s and giving the power plant 4 weeks duration.
|
| 4. | Electronics | Adjacent to the bridge is a computer model/9fib: no backup computer is installed.
|
| 5. | Hardpoints | 500 hardpoints.
|
| 6. | Armament | The normal weapons fit-out for an Xing!kir class is:
|
| 7. | Defenses | The hull is plated and structurally reinforced, giving it a High Guard armor rating of 4. It lacks internal bulkhead walls leaving it vulnerable to internal explosions.
|
| 8. | Craft | The vessel carries no dedicated subcraft. |
| 9. | Fuel Treatment | The Xing!kir class is fitted with a fuel purification plant that can refine all onboard fuel in a few hours. It is operated and maintained by the engineering crew.
|
| 10. | Cost | The basic cost of the vessel is MCr26,499.700
|
| 11. | Construction Time | 192 weeks (45 months) as standard. Build times can be reduced by mass production and the efficiencies such processes generate, by increased financing, and by allotting additional yard resources and facilities to the construction contract. |
| 12. | Comments | Standard cargo capacity amounts to 1,955 Tons. The cargo hold directly adjoins the open main section of the hull and augments its space: individual sections of the hold can be sealed off if desired. It is equipped with independent life support and environmental systems. |
History & Background (Dossier)
The Xing!kir class is sometimes referred to as an assault cruiser or a missile cruiser. The names are justified: the vessel frequently operates in such roles. The onboard nuclear dampers and meson screens are of excellent quality and superior performance. The missile complement includes nuclear weapons for destroying threats (typically carnivores) from orbit en masse. The Xing!kir class appears to be a formidable warship at first glance, with powerful offensive weapons systems. However, this is offset by its poor acceleration and jump rating, its relatively thin skin and the total lack of internal bulkheads and compartments. While it is very hard-hitting it is also extremely vulnerable.
