The Nist Military Forces is a World-State Military.
- It is an interstellar navy and fleet organization.

Description (Specifications)
Each ship has a detailed description. The ship's tonnage is noted in "dTons", a contraction of Displacement Tons.
- Starships within the Distant Fringe utilize DeVoss-type jump drives, limited to a performance of jump-2 (the so-called Jump-2 Barrier). The technological and industrial limitations of Nist prevent construction of better than jump-1-capable DeVoss Drives.
Nist's armed forces consist of 120 battalions. These are divided into:
- x2 Army Corps, consisting of x90 battalions.
- Each Corps consists of x3 divisions, each made up of x15 battalions.
- x1 Marine Division, consisting of x18 battalions grouped into three Marine Regiments.
- x12 Independent Battalions, consisting of specialist units and elite forces.
