Plavian League

The Plavian League is an interstellar, multi-system government.

• It is a union of several smaller states located primarily in the Castra and Windfleet subsectors of Gateway, with a total of twenty-one systems.

Description (Specifications)

Industrial and technological capability is high across the League, thus political weight is fairly equally distributed, though as ever some of the more advanced planets still tend to dominate less developed worlds. With the threat of war with the Hochiken People's Assembly (HPA), the various League factions are highly co-operative.

Goals

These planets banded together with the mutual interests of economic development and security.

Government & Politics (Leadership)

The Plavian League government is characterized as having a low degree of centralization, which gives local and regional governments almost complete control and has great difficulty creating uniform policy. The Plavian League government is usually classified as a League, a form of a Confederation. It consists of several constituent nations.

Technology & Trade (Economy)

Their naval architecture hovers around TL–10. Tash provides a few TL–11 designs.

Military & Intelligence (Force Projection)

There is no centralized fleet as such; Plavian forces are divided into three regional commands and a reserve, which are unequal in size. There are no official Naval Bases, though there are several worlds capable of building ships. Each of these worlds builds vessels primarily to defend itself. Senior League ship captains are typically promoted to the brevet rank of commodore, to command task forces. These are formed from available ships as needed, to deal with security missions aimed at protecting League interests. Several classes of ships carry League Marines.

The Plavians are known to make use of Droashav mercenaries.

Forces are heavily committed among the Heptad Worlds of Windfleet and at Prevarren, where the threat of the Hochiken People's Assembly is greatest. A few fast “expeditionary” units are maintained in the hope that the threat of retaliation would deter an aggressor.

Most worlds in the League not listed below have at least one squadron of Kaster class Light Fighters and at least one company of marines.
