Samuelson is a non-agricultural, pre-industrial, moderate population vacuum world, which warrants hazardous environment precautions, with over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- Its economy and population are slowly growing and living conditions are expected to improve in the near future barring outside forces.
- It is a member of the Plavian League in the Castra Subsector of Gateway Sector.
Description[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Samuelson has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
Historical Data[edit]
The storied Galastrian Metals corporation collapsed during a workers' revolt on Tharver in 302, but within three years the League Concord had been signed, establishing the Galian Trade League, a trade corporation which essentially took over most of Galastrian's former holdings under looser reigns of authority and control. By the mid-500s, the League incorporated all of what is today the Galian Federation, the Plavian League, the Trindel Confederacy, and the coreward worlds of the Viyard Concourse.
