Al Masar is an icy, non-agricultural and preindustrial world, whose surface is ice-capped and with nearly all of its water frozen.

  • It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • It is a world working toward being an industrial powerhouse but lacks an adequate workforce to do so. It must now import many of its manufactured and high tech goods.
  • It is a subject world of the Korsumug Empire located in the Mainsend Subsector of Mavuzog Sector.
  • This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
  • It is a member of the Korsumug Main.
  • 50% of the population is composed of baseline humans.
  • 50% of the population is composed of Jaibok.

System Data

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data

Al Masar orbits towards the outer edge of its star's habitable zone.

Chart Orbit HZ- Region Detailed.png

Mainworld Size (S)

Al Masar is a Small World between 2,400km and 4,000km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.1G and 0.17G. The horizon will appear about 2.5km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Al Masar has a pressure of less than 0.1 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Al Masar has 15-25% of its surface covered by ice, either in vast sheets or contained deep within craters or fractures on the surface. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants can be got by mining and melting ice.

  • The surface of the world is composed of a crust of ice many kilometers thick.
  • Much of the surface is cratered and covered in thick layers of regolith and dust of meteoric origin, leaving only around a small amount of the icy outer shell exposed.
  • Below the outer icy shell there may be a world-ocean of liquid water.

Mainworld Geography and Topography

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.

Native Lifeforms

There may be sub-ice native life.

World Starport

Al Masar has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Languages

World Technology Level

Al Masar possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
