Ransall is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below standard for Charted Space.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Sena Subsector of Halcyon Sector.
- Ransall is a Voluntarily Regressive World
Description / Astrography & Planetology[edit]
- This world lies on the Elemid Trace Star Lane.
System Data[edit]
The primary is Gallot, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.064 Sols, a mass of 0.5376 Sols, and a diameter of 778,000 km. (I) Durben is a small gas giant that orbits within the habitable zone: (Ia) Ransall is its largest satellite and is designated the mainworld. (II, III) two rocky vacuum worlds, (IV) a large gas giant, (V) a sparse rocky planetoid belt, (VI) a small gas giant, (VII) a trace atmosphere world, (IX) a sparse icy planetoid belt, and (X) a small icy vacuum world form the outer system. All of the gas giants retain satellites.
(I) Durben[edit]
(I) Durben is a small gas giant that orbits Gallot at a mean distance of 0.16 AU, within the habitable zone, and has an orbital period of 31 days 21 hours. It has a diameter of 33,000km and is a pale green-blue colour. It retains a family of two major satellites of which the outer, (Ib) Ransall, is designated the mainworld. A huge white storm, lying to the south of the equator and covering around 5% of the surface of the planet, has been raging for more than two centuries.

History & Background / Dossier[edit]
Ransall (1422 Halcyon) is a gas giant satellite with an extensive ecosystem. Navanna birds are large avians native to the equatorial forests of Ransall. Their eggs have mildly euphoric properties and are considered a great delicacy.
World Starport[edit]
Ransall has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Technology Level[edit]
Ransall possesses a Technology Level of TL–4.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone and telegraphs, widespread printing.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Trains and early automobiles.
- Water: Clippers and steam ships.
- Air: Dirigibles, balloons, very basic rockets.
World Government[edit]
Ransall is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.
