Wafen is a non-agricultural, pre-industrial, moderate population vacuum world, which warrants hazardous environment precautions, with over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts in population size.

  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • Its economy and population are slowly growing and living conditions are expected to improve in the near future barring outside forces.
  • It is an unclaimed Non-Aligned world located in the Ayearli Subsector of Ahkiweahi' Sector.

System Data[edit]

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Wafen is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Wafen has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Wafen has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

World Geography & Topography[edit]

No information yet available.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

This world has an ecosystem, exotic lifeforms resembling plants that are adapted to vacuum conditions. Little is known about these lifeforms. About three quarters of the planet's surface is covered in these "plants".

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

This world is listed as having an Ancient site; in truth, it is uncertain whether the relics here are the work of the Ancients or of another precursor civilization. The artefacts include the "portals" which permitted the pre-technological Lanthusandr (and possibly the rest of the ecosystem) to colonise other worlds.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Wafen does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.

World Population (P)[edit]

Wafen has a population of 600,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

World Demographics[edit]

The population consists of Lanthusandr.

Deeply puzzled by this unusual species, the Aslan of surrounding systems tend to leave them be.

World Government (G)[edit]

Wafen is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

Wafen has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).

World Technology Level (TL)[edit]

Wafen possesses a Technology Level of TL–0.

  • These worlds often contain a Proto-Sophont species beginning to establish a nascent civilization and society.
  • This world is in its Alpha Period and has not yet been interfered with by a higher technology civilization.
  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Bodily communicative apparati, courier-runners, and smoke signals.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Bodily muscle.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Bodily locomotion, riding beasts, and litters or sedan chairs.
    • Water: Swimming, rafts, and canoes.
    • Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability.
