The Lanthusandr of Wafen (Ahkiweahi' 1836) are a Non-Human Minor Race with a non-humanoid appearance.

Description

Though their maximum tech level is 3, the Lanthusandr have spread to about a dozen systems scattered through Ahkiweahi' Sector (and elsewhere, with at least one in Hfiywitir and one in Heakhafaw) using a system of portals. Who constructed these portals is unknown (as a result, the Ancients are assumed, though there is almost no evidence of any Ancient activity in this backwater region rimward of the Aslan Hierate). Some other Lanthusandr worlds include Yoour (Ahkiweahi' 1835), Tooom (Ahkiweahi' 1834), Hopirs (Ahkiweahi' 0240), and Oeceller (Ahkiweahi' 1914).

Physiology

The Lanthusandr look rather like very tangly plants made of a great many "vines". They can use these vines to manipulate the environment around them. The Lanthusandr body is roughly 1 metre across, with a distinct head; this is flower-like, leading some to suggest -- without much cause -- that they are related to Hivers. However, unlike that race they do not have any real symmetry and the number of vines they can use as tentacles appears to be random.

The Lanthusandr live mostly on vacuum worlds. They feed on plants which look quite similar to them and which cover large areas of Wafen and Yoour (about three quarters) and smaller fractions of their other worlds. How the Lanthusandr and the plants breathe is not precisely known. The colour of the Lanthusandr and the plants is, like Terran plants, green. The flowerheads are generally yellow, but about fifteen percent of the population has different colours, including red.
