Thalassa is a rich water world with its surface 90% or more covered in an ocean of water.

  • The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
  • This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
  • This world has high-grade living conditions with a good climate and a non-harmful environment. As such, this world is much sought after with large queues for immigration here.
  • Most observers think that the planet's economy and population will prosper in the near future barring outside forces.
  • It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Jardin Subsector of Solomani Rim Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

The planet is approximately 700 million years old and at the time of contact had only recently developed basic multicellular life. Thalassa became one of the first three Terran outposts in the subsector, but suffered an ecological catastrophe caused by contact with Terran lifeforms.

Stellar Data[edit]

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Thalassa was first surveyed during the Interstellar Wars period by the Terran exploratory ship Argo on one of the initial missions into Jardin.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Thalassa has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Thalassa has a population of 20,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Thalassa possesses a Technology Level of TL–14 or TL-E in Hexadecimal Notation.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early meson communicators.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, early collectors, and advanced fusion plants.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:

World Government (G)[edit]

Thalassa is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.

World Law (L)[edit]

Thalassa has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors).
