Point of Interest: Sphereworld[edit]

Between -310,000 and -290,000, the Ancients are thought to have created the incomplete Sphereworld which later became home to the Inheritors. They also constructed other megastructures in Charted Space, including a multiworld Rosette at Tireen (Knaeleng 2910) in the Vargr Extents, and an unfinished Ringworld at Leenitakot (Hinterworlds 1432).

History and Background[edit]

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Sphere has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Sphere has a population of 300,000,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of billions).

  • High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets. Worlds with this many sophonts are extremely rare, and can easily account for the majority of a sector's population.
  • The population consists of Inheritors.

Urbanization[edit]

The inhabited portion of the sphereworld possesses almost no gravity and a hydrogen-fluorine-sulfur tetrachloride atmosphere, maintained at a pressure of 0.9 with a temperature of 150°C.

World Government (G)[edit]

Sphere has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

  • The population of the sphereworld is estimated at about 3 million nests. Relations between these nests run the gamut from friendly trade and alliance to open warfare. For the last three centuries, about a tenth of the known Inheritor nests have been united in a relatively stable confederation, the Circle of the Sphere.
