Nye is a preindustrial world.

  • As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • This world hopes to one day be one of the subsector's industrial powerhouses, but hasn't yet realized that dream. The leaders of this world are regularly embarking on trade missions to attract more investment capital, worker-immigrants, and other necessary stepping stones to achieve this goal.
  • It is a member of the Free and Holy Federation of Amil in the Outrun Subsector of Crucis Margin Sector.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

This world honours the religious leader Richard Amil, who led his followers out of the Collective (a now-defunct interstellar state in Gateway Sector, to Coreward) to create their own home on five worlds in Crucis Margin.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Nye has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

  • Space traffic control in the Federation of Amil is a bit strange, since some stellar phenomena are considered holy and thus grounds to stop everything and give thanks. Some orbital regions are "auspicious" and permitted only to suitably anointed crews from among the Faithful.

World Population (P)[edit]

Nye has a population of 30,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

World Government (G)[edit]

Nye is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

World Military[edit]

There are two organized Holy Federation Army divisions in this system, as in every Federation of Amil system.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

Nye has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Machine guns, other automatic weapons, portable energy weapons, and other military weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Technology Level (TL)[edit]

Nye possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
