World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Nokune has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

  • Ships are subject to mandatory anti-larval fumigation before leaving, to kill any infant Hivers that might have gotten aboard. Hivers are distressed by the notion that a larva might find itself achieving sapience in an environment absent adult Hivers and suitable nests.

World Population (P)[edit]

Nokune has a population of 50,000,000,000 sophonts (tens of billions).

World Demographics[edit]

World Languages[edit]

Urbanization[edit]

Surface architecture is generally utilitarian, with little thought for aesthetics. There are plenty of underground areas, as Gurvin evolved from tunnelling den-living animals. Surface buildings are often grouped very closely together, connected via corridors on several levels. Gurvin do not generally separate residential areas from business areas. Their cities also have an unfortunate reputation for significant pollution problems.

World Government (G)[edit]

Nokune is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.

Nokune is a member of the Gurvin Interstellar Democratic Republic. The Republic government has two levels -- the representative committee where legislation and amendments to current legislation are raised, and the board, on which all 46 member worlds, regardless of population, have two directors, selected as they choose to serve terms of 10 years.

World Military[edit]

As a member of the Hive Federation, Nokune can call upon Ithklur warriors as well as its own defence forces.

    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.

World Timeline[edit]

  • -3650: The Hivers judge that the Gurvin have matured sufficiently to be allowed outside their home system. They provide them with the jump-1 drive but limit their exploration to the Aghan Subsector.
    • Gurvin extrasolar colonies are founded on Otuna, Spakaem (Folgore 0304), and Ataof (Folgore 0203).
  • -3548: Eager to present a united front to acquire jump-2 drive from the Hivers, the Gurvin form the Gurvin Interstellar Democratic Republic and make an official request to join the nascent Hive Federation and be provided with jump-2. The Hivers declare the Gurvin an "adult" species and agree.
    • The Hivers cede most of Eloqim Subsector for the Gurvin to explore and colonise.
  • -2029 to -2013: The Hiver-K'kree War to coreward threatens the Hiver community, and sees the firming of the Hive Federation into its modern form.
