Biyzihn
Loosely speaking, the currency of the Hivers.
The economy of the Hive Federation is difficult to understand (at least outside of the Gurvin Interstellar Democratic Republic). Hivers rely on a system of credit in which an individual has a positive or negative credit balance with a particular nest. When an individual changes nests, the new nest acquires the individual's balance. In the interim, individuals can draw on the nest's accounts. Just how this system is regulated is unclear to Humans; possibly it's self-regulation deriving from the Hiver pursuit of comfort, or possibly a cabal of Manipulators are dedicated to keeping it functional.
Alien Perspectives[edit]
"How convenient. And how often does a manipulation just happen to have the side-effect of making sure that one's negative balance never quite catches up? Good thing those Hivers are so perfectly cooperative and honorable, always looking out on their own for the long-term good of society."
-- The Blissful Warrior, sour Ithklur critic.
Humans sometimes refer to biyzihn as Manipulative Symbolic Credit, or CrMS.
