The rank of Master Chief Petty Officer (E9) is the second highest non-commissioned officer rank in the Imperial Army Nautical Force Command.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
Master Chief Petty Officers are typically the second of the petty officer aboard ship and rated "Mate". e.g. Machinist's mate. Aboard smaller vessels, they may be the most senior petty officer aboard.
Master Chief Petty Officers may be addressed as Master Chief. The Master Chief Petty Officer at a Fleet Headquarters unit is the Command Master Chief.
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Army (Close Orbit and Airspace Control Command) is Flight Sergeant Major .
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Army (Ground Force Command) is Sergeant Major.
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Marines is also Sergeant Major.
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Navy is Master Chief Petty Officer.

The term petty officer dates back to the Age of Sail. They were a senior sailor, less than the officers but more senior than other ordinary sailors, was known as a petty or lesser officer.
