The rank of Commander (O5) is the second most senior non-flag-officer officer rank in the Imperial Army Nautical Force Command.

Description (Specifications)[edit]
Each Ship of the Imperial Army (except the smallest) is under the charge of a Commander, if not commanded by an officer with the rank of Captain. Nautical Commanders may also hold staff appointments.
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Army Ground Force Command (GFC) is Lieutenant Colonel.
- The equivalent rank in the Imperial Army Close Orbit and Airspace Control Command (COACC) is Wing Leader (Wing Commander).

This rank has a long history from its first inception in the wet-navies of pre-spaceflight planetary naval services. It is shortened from the old term Master and Commander.
