Maka Sumt is a low-population world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in size.

  • This world has yet to take off economically or otherwise and the population remains low for reasons largely unknown.
  • This world has an exploration base, which is similar to an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling explorer personnel and exploratory starships.
  • It is a member of the Pirian Domain in the Maka Subsector of Gakghang Sector.

Maka Sumt has long been used as a "retirement world" for Maka Plat, a place to send loved ones who have become too uncomfortable with the ever-changing pace of life on Maka Plat. Unfortunately, in practice those who came to Maka Sumt became increasingly forgotten, on the other side of a week-long trip to see them. Letters could be sent, but in-person visits from family were rare for the lucky few who had such personal contact. A small community of wardens ran the world, as those in their care were often physically and/or mentally infirm.

It was all too predictable that, when the Empress Wave came, the wardens saved themselves (jumping on a large starship and hiding in the orbit of Maka Seal while it passed) and left their charges to die, which almost all of them did. Upon the wardens' return, the still-insane survivors were put down.

Eventually this was discovered. Maka Plat was still dealing with the aftereffects of the Empress Wave, so the only suitable punishment they could dole out was to take the wardens' starship and abandon them on the world. Maka Sumt still had enough viable hydroponics that this was not an immediate death sentence, but the wardens now had nothing to do but survive and no way off the planet.

As of 1105 they are still there, and some are starting to become infirm like their former wards. This is not quite a Red Zone since travel is not forbidden, merely shunned, but it is suspected that few if any starships have visited this system in the past 20 years, and it is quite possible that no more will until after the ex-wardens have all died.

Mainworld Data[edit]

No information yet available.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Maka Sumt is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Maka Sumt has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Maka Sumt has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few large continents and extensive islands. Wilderness refueling is possible.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Maka Sumt has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Maka Sumt has a population of 10 sophonts (tens).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without significant outside assistance. This may represent a transient population such as the crew of a starship, the final survivors of a dying colony, an advance team setting up to receive colonists, or a small outpost where establishing a colony is not the primary objective.

World Demographics[edit]

No information yet available.

World Government (G)[edit]

Maka Sumt is governed by a Corporate Polity with a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. A company town, or world. The typical corporate run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

Maka Sumt has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.

World Technology Level (TL)[edit]

Maka Sumt possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
