Laraa has a population between 10,000 and 10 million sophonts, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Laraa Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Laraa, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Madud Guukaam.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

Laraa is a member of the Sylean Main.

History and Background[edit]

Laraa was initially colonized during the First Imperium. As its population grew it became became a trade center and communications hub, and then the regional capital. After the Interstellar Wars the population was decimated by the Plague of Duskir. The world's population continued to decline throughout the Rule of Man, and by the end of the Twilight period Laraa was totally depopulated. There are extensive (and largely unexplored) First Imperium ruins on the surface. Records from the First Imperium indicate this world was inhabited with Chirpers.

The company DagMet AG is based at Laraa and serves the fabrication industry (especially in starship construction) in and around the Dagudashaag Sector.

Over the past twenty years the LifeTech Corporation has been upgrading the facilities in the system. The class A orbital port entered service during 1108, and a surface facility capable of housing over a million colonists is close to completion. The corporation (in conjunction with the scout service) is using aliens as part of a colonization experiment.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Laraa has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Laraa has a population of 10,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

World Government (G)[edit]

Laraa is governed by a Corporate Polity, having a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. Essentially, this is a "company town" (or world). The typical corporate-run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families, including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.

World Law (L)[edit]

Laraa has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Laraa possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.
