Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Kiran is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Kiran has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Kiran has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Battle of Kilii Ar in 239, fought between Vargr and Imperial forces on the planet using WMD, devastated the world for 200 years.

Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]

Kiran, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the estate and fiefdom of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Kiran has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

Historical Data: Later Eras[edit]

Rebellion[edit]

The Naval Base was taken over by the Dzarrgh Federate in 1117 and became the main forward base for Federate raids into Atsah Subsector. This died down with a cease-fire being agreed, including the "Demilitarisation" of parts of Atsah Subsector -- but pressures from Trailing and the fall of the Irrgh Manifest gave the Dzarrgh Federate little option but to try and flee into Regency Territory. This failed, and so the fleets tried to fight off the inevitable in an heroic last stand -- but this too ultimately failed.

The Nobility of Kiran fled the world in the face of the arriving Vargr horde. Those members of the families that stayed became leaders of the low-level insurgency but the repeated Vargr counter-insurgency sweeps and later waves of Virus destroyed all trace of them on the world. Those that fled into the Regency became just another set of poverty-stricken but proud refugees that found useful roles in the new society or sank into the general masses.

Post Virus[edit]

Overrun by an Empire Builder/Puppeteer Virus is late-1138/early-1139 with Vargr troops from Trailing Kiran became the forward base for the (failed) strike at Corfinium in late-1139/1140. Ships "fleeing" the disasters at Kiran and Corfinium became the start of the flood that struck into the Regency for the next 6 decades.
