Ikonaz Sphere
The Ikonaz Sphere is an astrographic feature primarily located in Empty Quarter Sector, and reaching into Antares Sector.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Ikonaz Sphere is the region of Vargr space dominated by the culture of the heavily-populated planet Ikon. A foundation of the Ovaghoun Vargr cultural and lingusitic region, Ikon is home to a Vargr ruling class that became heavily dependent upon, and in time integrated with, the Vilani human settlers they conquered. Today, the Ikonaz Sphere is incorporated into the Rukadukaz Republic, a key member of the Julian Protectorate.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
In 119, following a civil war in the Ikonaz Sphere in the Empty Quarter, the premier power to emerge was the government of Ikon, the Uekfavgrovbr' Syndarchy. Despite its victory, the war had cost it dearly -- fleets were depleted and many worlds were in ruins. It made a deal with major Ovaghoun factions in Meshan Sector that had broken free during the fighting, largely because it was in no position to pursue further hostilities. This agreement cemented certain rights and secured existing borders and gradually redefined the Ikonaz Sphere, limiting it to the territory the Syndarchy currently controlled and freeing the Ovaghoun outside of these borders from Ikonaz authority.

- Having inherited large numbers of now laid-off workers from previous governments, this government encouraged the emigration of the working (i.e. Irilitok Vargr) classes -- going so far as to subsidise 70% of the cost involved.
- Circa 859: Mnoushfar Wisdom Council
- Circa 933: The Fellowship of Nobles
- Note that the Rukadukaz Republic was founded as the government of the Ikonaz Sphere after the Fellowship collapsed in 937.
- Ikon Collective of Progress
- Circa 990: Ikonok Llirrusukh
- As of 990, the "Ikon Collective of Progress" had collapsed, replaced with the Ikonok Llirrusukh. This was an unstable network of business interests, tribes and clans, research federations, and entertainment figures.
- The Ikonok Llirrusukh controlled 85% of the mainworld, one–third of the Ikon system's planets and moons, as well as most of two external mainworlds and their systems: Kuell (Empty Quarter 0206) and Suezkha (Empty Quarter 0305). Another colony world, Guezdhe (Empty Quarter 0511), declared independence in 977 and made it stick. Before independence, it acted as the starship dockyards of Ikon, a lucrative position it retained in its new role as equal partner.
