Gougeste has a tainted, unbreatheable atmosphere and little available surface water. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This world is designated an Amber Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it dangerous to visitors. It is a client state of Third Imperium in the Jewell Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Gougeste is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Gougeste has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Gougeste has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

This was part of the County of Jewell until the end of the Third Frontier War[2].

The first pressure domes here were built in 892 by the expanding Arkesh Spacers corporation.

This planet's civilization has totally collapsed, being currently dominated by what are in effect "biker gangs". Formerly TL–A, now more like TL–7, the sole spot of civilization is the fortified Starport. Surrounded by a ring of walls and moats plus automated armed towers, interstellar trade is sporadic at best. Food and weapons are the primary imports, with the negative reaction of Starport Authority to any heavy weapons or grav systems going to "the locals"

History-Milieu: 1120[edit]

During the Fifth Frontier War a Sword Worlds "Gram" class cruiser is forced to abandon ship at Gougeste, and the survivors quickly dominate the world. In response the Gougestra Liberation Force begins fighting to take back their home from the Sword Worlders.

History-Milieu: New Era[edit]

In the Regency era the world is spelled Gougheste.
