Cordan is a low-population world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in size.

Description (Planetology)[edit]

The system is located on both the Hierate and Florian routes, two important trade connections between the Imperium and the Aslan Hierate and Florian League.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Cordan was originally ruled from Arunisiir, whose leaders appointed regional barons to control the settlements. When Arunisiir was overrun by Aslan ihatei, the support received by its barons was largely cut off and Cordan had to chart its own path.

Population[edit]

The official population is two thousand, but this only takes into account members of baronial households. These people are citizens, whereas the much larger population outside the households are referred to as subjects. These have a distinctly lower status.

Government[edit]

Cordan is officially a representative democracy, though this listing is a rather creative interpretation of the situation. The people of Cordan elect representatives who form a parliament headed by whichever baron is in charge of their zone. Representatives are also sent from each barony to the world parliament at the starport. However, the power of these parliaments is very limited; the barons control all high-technology manufacturing facilities, and the world parliament is hamstrung by rivalries between them.
