It is a member of Third Imperium in the Old Suns Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Birkhi, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdom of a viscount. Both are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. During the Long Night this world was named Lepuush Asshi.

Mainworld Geography and Topography

The first impression a visitor has of Birkhi is of rolling hills covered in the red and purple native moss, with only the occasional artificial oblong of black and green to mark the hydroponic farms and show that sophonts live on the planet. The entire surface lacks habitation except for the Adaham starport and the small vents that litter the surface.

Under the surface, Birkhi is a massive honeycomb of subterranean colonies, passages and mines.

History and Background

Birkhi is mostly known for its export of crystals and such exotic foodstuffs as the blind Kaa Crab and Ghalo Tuber.

The population is ruled over by the Ghnola through the Bhaital Council. An absolute dictator with total control over life and death, the Ghnola is chosen from amongst the wisest and on being elected is immediately blinded. For the next ten years the Ghnola's word is law and immediately carried out by every citizen. On the tenth year the Ghnola is led onto the surface and executed. Despite the capacity for abuse, throughout its long history the system of rule by Ghnola has been mostly benevolent.

World Starport

Birkhi has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

• The starport is named Adaham.
