Birkhi is a moderate population world with over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size. This is a high technology world with available technology over the standards for Charted Space. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Old Suns Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Birkhi, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the fiefdom of a viscount. Both are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. During the Long Night this world was named Lepuush Asshi.

Astrography and planetology[edit]

Birkhi is a member of the Gvadh Cluster.

The first impression a visitor sees of Birkhi is of rolling hills covered in the red and purple native moss with only the occasional artificial oblong of black and green to mark the hydroponic farms and show that man lives on the planet. The entire surface lacks habitation except for the Adaham Starport and the small vents that litter the surface.

Under the surface Birkhi is a massive honeycomb of subterranean colonies, passages and mines. Birkhi is mostly known for its export of crystals and such exotic foodstuffs as the blind Kaa Crab and Ghalo Tuber.

History and background[edit]

The population is ruled over by the Ghnola through the Bhaital Council. An absolute dictator with total control over life and death, the Ghnola is chosen from amongst the wisest and on being elected is immediately blinded. For the next ten years the Ghnola’s word is law and immediately carried out by every citizen. On the tenth year the Ghnola is led onto the surface and executed. Despite the capacity for abuse throughout its long history the system of rule by Ghnola has been mostly benevolent.
