Description (Planetology)

Living conditions on Banasdan are difficult, despite the planet’s thriving industrial economy and high technological base. The surface of the planet is only barely habitable, so the vast majority of the planet’s population huddles in sealed arcologies or underground cities.

Banasdan has two stars in the star system.

History & Background (Dossier)

Banasdan is a poor, high-population world located in Banasdan Subsector of the Solomani Rim. The system is a member of the Imperium and is the subsector capital.

The world was settled by Terrans following the Eighth Interstellar War. During the Long Night Banasdan was the capital of a small pocket empire known as the Arcturus Federation, the smallest of the original Rim States. Banasdan reluctantly joined the Imperium in 583.

World Timeline

• -242: Banasdan and its colonies reorganize into a true interstellar state, the Arcturus Federation.

• -100 onward: The Arcturus Federation and the Old Earth Union develope close relations.

• 200s: The Federation is divided by civil war after Jael declares independence from Banasdan.

• 583: Banasdan agrees to join the Third Imperium.

• 751: The Solomani Party government on Banasdan initiates a well-funded effort to open up Kukulcan Subsector for rapid settlement. A major new colony is planted on Caprice.

• 990: Solomani Rim War begins.

• 998: War turns in favor of the Imperial Navy.

• 1003: Solomani Rim War ends. Banasdan proves remarkably cooperative under Imperial rule. It is selected as subsector capital; a decision bitterly resented by the Vilani-dominated government of Nisinasha.
