Mainworld Geography & Topography

The planetary surveys revealed a Standard atmospheric pressure of 1.2, but affected enough by seamount volcano eruptions and ejecta to classify it as Tainted and requiring the use of filtration plants or personal filtration masks.

More than 90% of the planet is covered with deep oceans, punctuated with archipelagos, islands, and larger atolls. A temperate climate in the Green Belt causes frequent tropical storms, hurricanes and larger typhoons accompanied by tornadoes and waterspouts seasonally.

Native Lifeforms

Observed from orbit surveyors are the gorger, predator fish similar to a megalodon with large and wide fins. Documentation at the surface shows that this monster devourer has evolved simple lungs to breathe open air for short periods of time -- but due to its massive size in relation to its gills and lungs, the creature cannot survive on air, becoming fatigued and having to return underwater.

History & Background / Dossier

World Starport

Thueknorrurr has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level

Thueknorrurr possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government

Thueknorrurr has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.

Historical Data

A nearby battle in 1099 at Unghkou (Knoellighz 1029) leaked over into Thueknorrur, as a Corsair band cut supply lines to Ascendancy Pact Admiralty fleets engaged at Unghkou against the combined forces of the Infinity League and the Zhodani Consulate from Yeplzhaf Subsector. The Corsairs, later named the Posthumous, stormed the Highport, bombarded every ship trying to undock from the facility, and laid waste to several orbital installations over the mainworld. Chemical weapons were used to slaughter the entire population with mop-up teams of merciless Corsairs following behind the poisonous clouds. Once the nearspace over the planet was secured, the Corsairs bombarded the Downport and then dusted it and the Startown with more chemical weapons, invisible and undetectable to the Vargr below.

In 1105, with the Battle of Ungkhou a forsaken stalemate, Theuknorrur is a Dieback world, with a defunct attached Naval Base and littered with wreckage and debris forming a ring of metallic waste. The remnant orbital platform was downgraded to a B Starport and the planetside community and Downport were similarly reduced. While the B-rating is based on equipment still on hand, there is no population to man the facilities. Visiting ships must service themselves for refueling and search the ruins for tools and parts to make repairs.

The Ascendancy Pact has been slow to fund a recovery and cleanup operation. With assets claiming worlds on its Coreward border, the Representatives continue to debate on the value of the Naval Base above Thueknorrurr. Salvage rights have already been denied to scavengers as the 'flag' technically still flies at the military installation; it is registered property of the Admiralty, who send patrols to clear out squatters and looters quarterly.

Later History

By 1111, both the Highport and Downport are repopulated by the Ascendancy Pact. The Naval Base is brought back online when the Coreward progress of the polity is stymied by internal delays, debates, and the hurdle of technologically superior Serue (Knoellighz 1221) and its trade-allies.
