Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Darun has a pressure of 2.5 or greater atmospheres. A Dense & High Pressure Atmosphere typically requires no survival gear under many conditions. Pressure at or below sea level is too great to support life but the atmosphere may be breathable at higher altitudes. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Associated with the Alike Trade Cluster within the Cytrialin Unity, Darun is also one of the eight systems significant to the Books of Cytrialin. As one of the Eight Pillars, Darun is associated with the Book of Teaching/Learning (this is one word with a dual meaning in Cytrialin).

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Darun has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Darun has a population of 2,000 sophonts (thousands).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.
  • As one of the Eight Pillars of Cytrial, the world is kept undeveloped; it is essentially a monastery/spiritual retreat.

World Demographics[edit]

100% of the population are Lamura, consisting of the human Lamura Teg and the non-human Lamura Gav.

World Languages[edit]

The Cytrialin language is a derived form of an old Vilani dialect.

World Culture[edit]

The guiding philosophy of the Lamura people is a lengthy work called the Cytrialin. The Cytrialin is both a rough and biased history of the Lamura peoples as well as a complex system of ethics and morality, alongside a compilation of practical advice for life. Because so many of the Lamura are noted for reading or quoting the Cytrialin when in distress or seeking answers to a difficult problem, they have gained a reputation for being fanatics and impractical mystics, though the text is noted for genuinely effective systems for practical problem solving.
