The Faar of Alphaaric (Gateway 1133) are a Minor Non-Human Race with a Humanoid appearance. They are technologically advanced sophonts.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
Coming from a high-gravity world, the Faar are squat blocks of muscle and heavy bone who only rarely reach a height of 1.7 meters. 1.5m is about average for males and females alike. They are otherwise humanoid (same numbers of limbs, sensory organs etc.) but their internal structure is subtly different. In particular, Faar hips and shoulders are constructed differently to those of humans. Faar have very pale skin and no body hair of any kind. Their eyes are also very pale, and usually blue or green. They are warm-blooded, bear live young, and have two sexes.
Psychology[edit]
Faar are not particularly talkative, and away from Alphaaric become even more close-mouthed and single-minded about their business, as if they cannot wait to get home. Humans who have visited Alphaaric claim that the Faar are a hedonistic people, with a great love of art, music and theater, who spend as much time as possible enjoying themselves. They are said to work very efficiently to get the job at hand done, so that they can get on with the serious business of enjoying life to the full. Some, who claim to have insider knowledge, say that the Faar are deeply frightened of something "out there", and seek to hide on their one little world rather than confront the terrifying mysteries of the universe.
History[edit]
Ruins apparently of Faar origin are found in many parts of Gateway Sector. All show signs of violence, hurried abandonment, or both. There are today no known communities of Faar anywhere but their homeworld, and the race does not elaborate on its apparent history as a nation of explorers and colonisers.
