Mainworld Topography and Geography
Gashikan has a single supercontinent.
Locations:
- Khasla: The capital city
- Laakida: A southern coastal region
- Nitholis: A city destroyed in the Sack of Gashikan, ruins long maintained as a monument
Native Sophont: Yileans
- Gashikan is the home world to a minor race of Humaniti called the Yileans. They are a distinct subspecies of Homo sapiens, though now highly diluted by long intermixing with Vilani migrants during the first and second Imperiums.
History & Background
This T-Prime/Garden world has been home to a series of genocidal human empires. This world is historically important and has a high population, excellent starport facilities and shipyards. The law level is extremely restrictive, although trade continues to thrive.
Gashikan has long been a player in warfare between humans and Vargr. The planet was subject to nuclear attack in -1658, and the Empire is still sometimes subject to Urzaeng raiding. Today, in the Third Empire of Gashikan, Vargr economic exploitation is still common, especially in the coreward areas and in most of Trenchans Sector. On Gashikan itself, Vargr are subject to immediate and summary execution; elsewhere in the rimward sections of the sector, Vargr segregation, serfdom, and peonage are more common than outright Vargr slavery, although the latter is far from unknown.

Urbanization
Except for monuments like Nitholis, Gashikan has long recovered from the nuclear bombardment of the Sack. To protect its verdant beauty, the Third Empire of Gashikan imposes strict limits on immigration and new construction. Unless hired to perform an important job, visitors are generally not permitted to stay longer than two months. However, short-term visitors' visas are free, and tourism is one of Gashikan's major sources of income. Over 35% of Gashikan's land is officially protected wilderness area, where no permanent structures may be built.
Law
Except for the well-armed police, no-one on Gashikan can legally own a weapon more deadly than a small pocketknife. Hunting is also prohibited, so visitors have no excuse to possess weaponry.
A network of spy cameras constantly monitors the entire planet.
Military
Gashikan has been the site of an extensive Naval Base for centuries. While the objective importance of the base has varied considerably over time, it ranks highly in the Navy for importance and honor among the personnel. While most spacers prefer to serve aboard ships, none will turn down a posting to Gashikan System Command.
