Native Lifeforms

Native life is primitive. Most land-based life today is based on imported organisms, from earthworms to cattle.

History & Background (Dossier)

The Diadem Trade League, created following the Conference of Baixing, is a ‘coordinating body’ for trade on the Diadem Main, and is based on Baixing.

Baixing is also the home base of Portmanteau Shipping Services.

Government

Supposedly a democatic state, and certainly featuring a great deal of colourful election theatre, this stratified society is dominated by members of the Grand Senate, who usually hail from particular families. Casting the legitimacy of the republic into doubt, however, is illegal.

World Starport

Baixing has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

  • 778: The Peoples Revolution for universal suffrage forces further change, supported by the Baixing Star Navy’s commanders. The Third Baixing Republic is created.
  • 800: Baixing reaches a population of 100 million and is producing its own starships.
  • 950: Population reaches a billion; Baixing has become the manufacturing and trading hub of the Diadem Main.
  • 984: Diadem Trade Council is established at Baixing.
  • 1054: Conference of Baixing; most systems along the main agree to cooperate in reducing tariffs and overwise encouraging trade. Diadem Trade League formed.
