The Democratic People's Defense Forces

Stormbringer Class Fleet Tenders built with covert Solomani naval assistance and technical advisors in exchange for some political favors, these are the center piece of the people's defense forces. It is armed with forty weapon bays, ten of each of the following: missile, particle accelerators, plasma guns, and repulsors. It is designed to be able to transport two complete system defense squadrons into trouble areas. Several systems are not advanced enough to support continuous naval activities and ships are moved into position only when needed. They carry two platoons of marines and are part of the The Democratic People's Defense Forces. It carries (20) or two squadrons of Fearless class Fighters, (4) Scouts, (4) Knuckle Head class System Defense Monitors, (4) Flare Class Gunboats.

Basic Ship Characteristics

Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]

Basic Ship Characteristics [2]
No. Category Remarks
1. Tonnage The Stormbringer class is constructed using a 40,000 Ton hull built in a dispersed strucure configuration. The hull is unstreamlined and cannot operate in anything denser than Trace atmospheres without risking catastrophic structural failure.
  • There are 28 airlocks located around the vessel. The cargo hold is accessed by large doors.
2. Crew 457 personnel. XX command, XX engineering, XX gunnery, XX service, XX medical, and XX stewards. There are 80 marines and XX flight crew.
  • Staterooms: XX single double occupancy.
    • Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems. There are internal monitoring and security systems throughout the vessel: individual sections of the hull can be sealed off. There are multiple emergency lockers.
3. Performance The vessel mounts a Jump-1 drive, a Maneuver-6 drive, and a Power plant-7, giving performance of Jump-1 and 6-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 4 and an emergency agility of 6. There is fuel tankage of 10,800 Tons, sufficient for two consecutive Jump-1 and giving the power plant 4 weeks duration.
  • The engineering section has a main control room.
  • The jump drive creates a jump bubble around the vessel.
  • The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.
4. Electronics Adjacent to the bridge is an efficient computer model/4 fib: no backup computer is installed.
  • The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, a basic sensor array, and an avionics suite.
    • It is fitted with backup commo and sensor systems.
  • It has a transponder unit that can be deactivaed on command.
5. Hardpoints 400 hardpoints.
6. Armament The normal weapons fit-out for a Stormbringer class is:
  • 100x single fusion gun turrets, typically grouped into ten batteries of 10 linked turrets.
  • 100x single particle accelerator turrets, typically grouped into ten batteries of 10 linked turrets.
  • 100x triple sandcaster turrets, typically grouped into ten batteries of 10 linked turrets.
  • 100x triple missile turrets, typically grouped into ten batteries of 10 linked turrets.
7. Defenses The hull is unarmored.
  • The vessel is not fitted with screens or other passive defensive systems.
8. Craft The vessel carries:

Fighter Complement

  • 20 x 80 Ton Fearless class Heavy Fighters, housed on dedicated docking points across the hull.

Large Vessels

  • 4 x 1,000 Ton Knuckle Head class SDBs, housed on dedicated docking points across the hull.
  • 4 x 300 Ton Flare class Gunboats, housed on dedicated docking points across the hull.
  • 4 x 100 Ton Scouts, housed on dedicated docking points across the hull.

Vehicles

  • The G-Carrier hanger is a sealable compartment with a volume of 83.2 Tons.

Drop Capsules

  • There are eight Drop Capsule tubes and their associated loading equipment
    • There is dedicated holding space containing an additional 72 Drop Capsules.
9. Fuel Treatment The Stormbringer class is fitted with a fuel purification plant that can refine all onboard fuel in a few hours. It is operated and maintained by the engineering crew.
10. Cost The basic cost of the vessel is MCr27,993.277
  • Architects Fee: MCr349.916
11. Construction Time 186 weeks as standard. Build times can be reduced by mass production and the efficiencies such processes generate, by increased financing, and by allotting additional yard resources and facilities to the construction contract.
12. Comments Standard cargo capacity amounts to 103.5 dTons. The cargo hold can be sealed and has independent life support and environmental systems.
